Christian Church. Doe It make
any difference, 1 wonder, that
twenty-seven million boys and girls
of the l ulled States are getting
no religious instruction? That 70
per cent of our youth are getting
no training In those moral and
spiritual sanctions on whicb our
great democratic institutions were
built.. Our spiritual illiteracy Is the
seed bed for national dissolution.
Something will have to be done
about this matter soon. Let us get
behind the movement to provide
week day Bible instruction for our
children this coming school year.
Other cities are doing it, and Hose
burg will not fall. The minister
will speak Sunday morning on
"Spiritual Illiteracy." In the even
ing the union service will be held
in the Methodist church, south.
Brother McCullagh Is the speaker.
Tuesday afternoon the Christian
Sunday school will hold a picnic at
the Llndbloom picnic grounds. Cars
will leave the church at .various
hours during the afternoon, so that
transportation will be arranged for
all, and at a convenient hour. The
picnic dinner will be beld at the
grounds after six o'clock to accomo
date those who cannot leave town
until late. H. E. MOW.

PARIS, Aug. 21. Sound waves
from a human brain have been
picked up by a radio receiver on
a four to 10 meter wave length.
The experiment is described by
Professor Ferdlnando Cazzamill,
head of the department of neurolo
gy and psychiatry at the Universi
ty of Milan, In an article prepared
for the forthcoming issue of Re
vuew De Mteaphysique and re
viewed by Le Matin.
As a result Professor Cazzamall
forsees the transmission of sound
waves from one brain to another.
He says he operated with high
excitable persons or those suffer
ing rrom nervous disease as well
as the noted Italian medium. Sign-
bra Maggl. The patient was shut
up in a perfectly insulated cabinet
The sounds he heard through the
receiver ranged from signals akin
to ordinary wireless signals to
whistling of soft viola, or cello
notes.
Professor Cazzamill said he is
led to believe that the waves sent
out from the brain of one person
under certain conditions might be
picked up by another person of the
same mental or hypnotic stress.

COW CREEK HOME
IS RAZED BY FIRE
A fire that totally destroyed the
country borne of Champ Johna,
llMng ten miles up Cow Creek, was
discovered about noon last Friday,
says the Giendale News. The fire
hsd gained much headway when
dtarovered and before help could be
obtained had grown to auch pro
oortions that It waa Impossible to
save anything except the household !
goods, clothing, and bedding.
Neighbors rushed In and carried
the household effects to places of
safety and all the Inside furnish
ings were saved with the exception
of a bed or two and some clothing.
The fire undoubtedly started from
spsrks or a cinder from the flue a
the blaie started about halfway be
tween the evea and the chimney.
The insurance on the house had ex
pired a short time before and they
had not been notified of the fact,
which adds calamity to the disas
ter. They will rebuild.

Why? Because the greatest op-
