WINNERS ANNOUNCED
KANSAS CITY. Mo., Aug. 20.
One hundred and tweuty-rive
young men qualified In the second
annual representative DeMolay
contest, which has Just ended. An
nouncement of the winners' names
was made from national headquar
ters of the organization In this
city, by Frank S. Land, Grand
Scribe. Last year eighty-eight De
Molay qualified.
Some ot the qualifications con
sidered In selecting the successful
contestants were religious activi
ties, scbolastio attainments, athle
tics and craftsmanship. Thirty
four states, the District of Colum
bia and the Panama Canal Zone
supplied the young men who were
chosen by the Judges. These jud
ges were Frank H. Cheley, presi
dent of the Father and Son League
of America: David C. Dayless, sec
retary of the Humphries' Founda
tion, both men residents of Den
ver, Colorado, and-W. R. Boorman,
dean of boys' work, Association
College, Chicago.
Several hundred DeMolays,
among the many of those who
were successful in the representa
tive contest, will attend the second
annual National Leaders' Camp of
the Order at Bear lake, near Estes
Tark, Colorado, August 27 to Sep
tember 6. The program at this
camp provides a complete course
in citizenship Instruction in social
hygiene and athletics. A. A. Stagg,
Jr., freshman track coach, Univer
sity of Chicago, and son of A. A.
Stagg, the famous football mentor,
will be in charge of athletics.

will lecture on social matters and

death of Miss Edith M. Towne, well
known Medford business woman,
last night returned a report that
she came to her death by drown
ing. The chief witnesses at the
hearing were Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
McGowan, with whom she had
made her home for the" last five
years.
