SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 8. (A.
P.) Army service schools at the
j Presidio of San Francisco and else-
where have begun to turn weather
1 prophets.
The military importance of the
subject has led army men to a deep
Ptuly of atmospheric conditions.
Graduates of the meteorological
section of the signal school are
placed on duty along the numerous
war department airways, where
weather forecasts must be supplied
to aviators before they start on
extended flights. Not only temper
atures and storms must be predict
ed, but upper air currents, the di
rection and duration of winds, are
of great importance to pilots.
In planning the erection of new
airdromes and flying fields the
weather experts are given careful
hearings.

"How stupid, how perfectly
stupid you are. Paul Armstrong!
You should not have made that
aMnine remark until yon had
opened the envelope yourself, and
then you would have found that
no person, not even your wile,
could have told who sent the
message. It shows me you are
expecting a wire from Connie."
This disconcerted my husband
very much. He knew he hud
made a great mistake.
He hastily tore open the en
velope, not waiting to take the
message out of the opening I had
previously made. When ho saw
the printed slip, he exclaimed:
'Why, this Is not a wire from
Connie! It is from some one who
has bent me some money!"
"Evidently." i returned, sarcas

Paul seemed to sense how ri
