Basis on Which Packed

Ranks High.
Oregon prune prices are nearer
the California prices than ever be
fore In the hlMory of the Industry,
according to figures received on
i he new quotations made by the
CaliTornla Prune and Apricot as
sociation. Heretofore Oregon prunes
have brought from three to five
cents lens than the California fruit,
but this year buying Is within a
cent of the California price. This
is of great Importance to the Ore
gon industry, indicating that the
ti nit lu this statu is now recognized
a heing fully on a par with the
California fruit In quality.
'J he selling price of the two main
varieties of the prunes packed by
the California concern, Is 1Z cents
and Hi cents. This price is ap
proximately 2 cents higher than the
price per pound paid grower, so
that the buying price is between
9 and 10 cents on ..0-40 sizes. The
base price now offered local grow
ers Is 9 cents, so thut t lie re is ap
parently little difference between
the purchasing price in California
and Oregon.
