OUT IN THE GOLDEN WEST
Hy Abigail Rees Johnston
Out in the beautiful golden west,
Where wild flowers grow and blrd-
ings nest;
Where mountains, and rivers, and
canyons and glens
Vie with each other, and Nature
blends
All In one glorious acme of rest
Out in the golden west.
Out where tho roseate morning
breaks
On valleys green, and mirrored
lakes;
On orchard, and woodland, and
vale, and glade
The green and gold arc softly laid.
And (ind from His storehouse gives
tug nest
Out in the golden west
Out where the radiant sunsets fall
On mountain crag and canyon wall;
Where wind and hall and frost and
snow
Pass gently by In the evening glow
And the ahadea of night bring
peace and rest
Out in the gohien west.
Out w here the evening shadows lay
On ocean blue and crested wave;
Where the moonbeams dance and
the firemen glow
In liod's out-of-doors, where
things grow;
Where the cuckoo Bleeps la
dow ny nest.
Out in the golden west.
