Never Before
a Value Like This
The Super-Six principle,
exclusive to Hudson and
Essex, is responsible for
the largest selling 6-cyl-inder
cars in the world,
because it gives results
in smooth, brilliant ac
tion, reliability andecon
omy never attained by
any other type.
This Essex, in all ways,
is the finest ever built,
Easier riding and driv
ing, more flexible in per
formance, handsomer in
line and finish, it is also
lower in price than ever
before. Its success is sim
ply the belief of buyers
that it represents the ut
most automobile value
and satisfaction within
hundreds of dollars of
the price; and it proceeds
entirely from what
owners themselves say
of Essex.

Drain to Winchester' Bay, presents
onn of the most Interesting drives
in the state, according to W. A.
Grout, assistant general manager
of the Fields Motor far company, ,
who made the trip last week. I
The trip, he points out, is Inter-!
eating not only from the scenery
which la found, but because of the
historical background of this route,
which passes through the moun
tains at Elkton, and on to Scotts
burg and Reedsport.
"J-rom Drain to Elkton the road
passes by many prosperous farms
and sheep ranches through the tall
timber tb Elkton, thence deep in
the rugged mountains and can
yons by beautiful fishing streams
to Soottsburg, the second post of
fice established In the state," said
Grout. "It was here that the first
tiaUicg posts inland, from Astoria
were gounded. Some of the
storm-beaten buildings still stand
that mark the days of early trad
ing. "Krom here on down to Reeds
port the road follows the river
bank over the same trail that was
blazed in the 'oD's by the United
States army as a military road.
"At Redsport, a bustling town
of sawmills. Incorporated In 1919,
now inhabited by some 3000 peo
ple. Is the center of the lumber
Industry of the watershed. An Is
land opposite this town about five
mites from the ocean was the sito
of the state's second custom house.
"Krom Reedsport to the ocean,
over a distance of about five miles,
a sandy but good road takes one
to Winchester Bay, where exten
sive government work Is being
done on a jetty. Here was located
the historic Fort Uinpqua. It exist
ed so long ago that all remaining
to show its location are two mark
ers of soldiers' graves, not a soli
tary piece of the fort's founda
tions still surviving the elements.
"Here, only 235 miles from the
heart of Portland, lies an ideal
camping spot not all beach nor all
mountains hut a happy combina
tion of the two. A hay, mountains,
tall timber, fine fishing, bathing,
boating, all awaiting the motorist
at this vucation land, eilit hours
from his home in the city." Ore-gonian.

His car will bo on display at t-ach
local store where he stops.
While the use of commercial
cars continues to grow and while
users are more and more turning
to the lighter units as the most
economical, a review of recent ad
vances in this division of motor
transportation reveals an interest
ing and significant development,

chassis has been the most popu
lar of the lighter truck units and
at present approximately 76 per
cent of Uiu one ton trucks in use
in the United Stutea are Fords.
Until little more than a year ago,
however, purchases of the ' Ford
truck chassis had to Becure bodies
from outside manufacturers.
The first appearance of Ford In
the comerclal car body field came
with the introduction of an all
Bteel vxpress type body with
open cab, also of steel construc
tion. The cab and pody were
built with a view of giving to the
user the greatest possible value in
construction and materials and at
the same time a unit that was Ugh
and durable, designed to meet a
variety of icquirements.
With tliis body on the market It
wasn't long until the Ford Motor
company provided 'screen sides
and canopy top, thereby extending
the truck's utility to delivery and
Pauling services requiring protec
tion of merchandise from tut. ele
ment and from theft, providing at
the- same lime ample loading
space.
. While these body combinations
met a large share of the require
ments in the commercial and agrl?
cultural fields there still remain
ed a certain divislun that, demand
ed stake and platform trucks.
In order to satisfy Urn demand
the company recently Introduced u
new stake body, which not only
meets many hauling needs, hut
has a particular value to the
farmer, for the body is easily
adaptable to the use of catttoand

A closed cab of steot also has
been introduced. It is adaptable
