were read on various lines of agri

I A resolution was unanimously
adopted askinK that these facts be
: carried to the people of the coun
ties and that a similar study of
leach county be made to determine
its relation to (lie possibllitlfs of
,the slate. Many matters of fuii
i menial and economic importance
have been brought out as a result
i of th'se county meetings. In one
county analysis of production rec
ords showed an import of 1750,000
worth of alfalfa hay in several
: years, but 60 farmers In the county
! were growing hay, and a survey
' showed that their average yield
1 was four torts to the acre. All sow
line's in this county, Washington,
are now designed towards the g row
ing of an acre of Hltalfa for every
'producing cow in ihe county, and
already between five and six hun
died larmers are successfully grow
1 inr alfalfa.
Horticulture, general farm field
crops, livestock, dairying, poultry,
lumht ring ami fishing were the ma
jor projects decided upon by ihe
meeting Saturday. A committee
with membership covering the en
'tire county will be appointed to
l consider Cach of these industries. A
statistician from the Oregon agri
culture College extension service
will spend at least three weeks In
the couuiy working with this com
mittee determining necessary facts
and figures. Arrangements have
been made for obtaining sheets
from the bureau of census fur
Ihuudns county lu order that the
latent census report maybe avail
able for the committee. The find
ings of the state meeting at Cor
vallls wilt be available through
County Agent Cooney.

the drum corps, and the five ap

Algarsson of Victoria, B, C, ex
plorer, who has been planning an
effort to reach the North Pole in
a small dirigible. Bailed from the
Mersey this afternoon in what he
said was an attempt to reach
"farthest north."
Algarsson said he would not at
tempt to fly to the North Pole,
but would attempt to reach the
most northern point of any Arctic
evpeditlon this year.
Algarsson was accompanied by
Commander Worsley and several
others.
Algarsson's original plans were
to go north by boat and then fly
to the North Pole in a semi-rigid
airship, ltecent reports have left
some uncertainty regarding his ex
act Intentions. At one time it was
repotted that delays in the con
struction of the dirigible ,had
caused him to abandon the proect.
LIBERTY THEATRE.
Beautiful Betty Blythe gives an
exceptional portrayal in a charac
terization somewhat different from
those she has recently essayed- She
is Mrs. Whipple, the dashing young
mother of a semi-wild daughter
and a son whose only interest is
in Jazz music. Pauline Garon, fa
mous for her flapper roles, adds an
other bit to ber reputation as one
of the foremost interpreters of
young girl parts. William V. Mong
ably depicts the father who is well
named "Stuffy" by his daughter,
and other male roles are taken by
Eddie Phillips, Arthur Rankin and
Robert Ellis who is the hero. Stella
di Lanti, a real Puche,ss, and Fred
Becker are the villainous Spanish
pair who almost ruin the family. At
