Superior cleverness and qulek-ne-H
triumphed over a weight
handicap of 25 pounds at the car-niv.-il
show last Saturday ni?ht
when Paul Amort, local lti.1 pound
trappier, downed the btcgest of
the trio of wrestlers attached to
one of Ihe tent features. Amort
won two straight fails in a tussle
that was gruelling, albeit clean,
taking the first in IS minutes and
the second in 13 minutes. Poth
were won with the punishing head
scissors hold.
Amort's Antagonist weighed
around 190 pounds and was fully
half a head taller. As they stood
together in the center of the ring
immediately before the opening of
tho bout, affording the big crowd
of spectators a clear comparison
of their physical proportions. It
did not. seem possible that victory
couhf be won by the local man.
t'nder previous agreement to
wrestle to a finish, two out of
three falls, there could be no stall
ing fur a time limit,' so it was up to
the maimen to 1:0 to the nlh decree
of their prowess. Ihe big fellow
clamped some dangerous holds on
Amort, particularly wristlocks and
the short arm scissors, and oneo
in tin first round, speaking loud
enough to be heard all over the
lent, rrdvised Amort to give up to
avoid a broken arm. When the
crowd began endorsing this ad
vice. Amort wrigiiled free, just as
he manaped to do all through the
struggle whenever it appeared that
his iMisition was hopeless. Amort
greatly surprised the crowd by the
display of endurance and strength
th.'tt matched his speed. He tried
toe holds ?nd the deadly hcadock
on the showman repeatedly, but
the bi frllow was too strong to
succumb to either. Finally, where
Anion's arms and hands proved in
adequate, his legs did the work.
H managed to Eft his antagonist's
head between his legs in the com
monly known scissors clutch ami
this. cmipVd with an arm lork,
half-strant:led the big fe .. - into
submission.
The tactics of the men in the
seftmd round did not vary much
from those of the first. When
Amort applied the finishing bead
sr K-ors. however, he conjoined it
with a toe hold that the bits fellow
