Influenza Ancient Enemy
Influenza has been known n I most
ns long as mnn has been known.
Hie word Itself Is derived from th
ancient astrologers, who believed It
to be caused by the "inlluence of
the stars. The disease has been
miiulsiiikuMy traced 1uick to lfvSO.
It whs then prevalent in eastern
(lermany and was known, curiously
enough, as sleeping sickness. It
appeared again In the Klghteenth
century. when epidemics of It were
frequent und prolonged in most
Eumpeun countries. Among the
famous ircople of long ago who mif
fered from it were Sir Imihc New
ton, (ioethe and Schiller. The
Brent philosopher. Kant, was at
tacked by ii, and he believed it was
caused by noxious insect brought
to western Kurope us a result of
trade with ltussia.
A very Interesting and well at

W, H. Mcllean, assistant superin

charge of the meeting, which was
attended by about 25 of the agents
from Drain to Riddle. Slides were
shown of scenic attractions on the

with what the company has lo of

excursion rates were thoroughly
