rlere in Roseburg an enlarged musical program has
been planned for the entire week, every musical organization
taking a leading part and a fitting observance and well-bal-
anced program has been arranged for each day during the
entire week. Churches, civic organizations, the schools, all
musical clubs and those who are directly interested in music,
'are co-operating to the fullest extent to make (he week a no
: table one in musical circles, to impress upon parents and
children the importance of music in their future life and the
;need for acquiring early a love for the art.
To the professional and amateur musician of the com
munity Music Week provides an opportunity to give of his
ability for the education and enjoyment of his fellow citizens
and the artistic advancement of his city. The cause of mu
sic, and those concerned with its making, is furthered
. througti the stimulation of interest in music and the widen
' ing of the audience for music. The city, town, or village
which through its local observance gives more thought to
music has not only the immediate benefit of a succession of
attractions carefully planned for its entertainment and im
provement, but still more important, the prospect of a con

distance traveled in the 27 hours

al in Huston yesterday.
Colonel ( oulidge had nothing to
say concerning his trip to Huston,
other than that he was feeling as
usual. Specialists who examined
him said he had heart biock, a
condition often occurring 'among
persons of advanced age.
There was a dance in the hall
above the general store in Ply
mouth last night, but the presi
dent's father did not attend. Of

tuirs and watches the merrymak
ers, but it was said the Journey
