NEW YORK, April 10 Radio
stations and ships at sea which for
five days have filled the air with
calls fof the steamship Arrturus,
carrying scientists on a deep lea
oceanographio expedition, today
continued Ihelr effort. The ex
pedition, today continued their ef
forts. The expedition has not been
heard from since March 29, when
the captain reported that all was
well 200 miles south ot 1'anama.
The vessel had been giving her po
sition daily by wireless.
The Arcturus Is the largest vea-1
ael over fitted out especially for
deep sea exploration. It is equip
ped with every type ot flshlug 1
nets.
The crew number 35 and with
14 scientists and two passengers,
the total ou board la 51.
There was a feeling among some
scientists that the expedition
might be on the verge of aome im
portant discovery and that In or
der not to be premature, all In
formation from the ship was be
ing withheld.
