PERUVIAN CONSUL
TO BE DIVORCED
CHICAGO, Apr. 4. Diplomatic

saved Dr. Mitridates De Plata, Peru
vian consul in Chicago from facing
a divorce suit was overruled today
by Judge Joseph Sabath, who Indi
cated he would grant a decree to
Mrs. Ednee De Plata, teacher of
languages. Her attorneys present
ed affidavits to support his conten
tion that a state court had Jurisdic
tion. -Mrs. De Plata alleged that the
consul while enroute to Peru, met
a Seattle dancer, at Cologna. Pan
ama, and became so enamored that
he returned with her to New York"
and Wvru about to announce their
engagement to marry at a dinner
party in New York, when the wife
Bays she broke up the affair.
Mrs. De Plata testified her hus

The chief witness was Louise De

going to New York with her moth

"He was with a lady and had a
flower in his coat. Mamma went
up to him and he tried to choke
her. Six men came in and I cried."
I'pon another occasion, the child
said, her father attneked her moth

Miss Adela Halter of Seattle, was
the dancer named by Mrs. De Plata.
Dr. D Plata has contended his
