LAW ENFORCEMENT
Editor News-Review:
I want to say a few words re
garding the Christians ot Roseburg
and their duly towards law enforce
ment. 1 will not give my opinion of
religion and the right church as
thuro are near 700 different views.
A real Christian Is a man or wo
man who believes in standing be
hind tho officers of the law lu aid-,
ing them to enforce sutue. Without
law and order we could not exist,
neither could the church. A Chris
tian will nut call a policeman or
many peace officer, dog catcher
nor criticise them Id trying to do
their duty. There are crooked offi
cers but no crooked Christians.
"Him that has cars let hiin hoar."
A Curlsiian can be narrow and not
accomplish much, lie can be broad
minded and accomplish a great
deal. Their is a minimum amount
ot aoik to do, but the maximum Is
bounded only by the end ot space.
Ignorance is Satan's influence. Ig
norance denies people ot their lib
erties, keeps them from taking
part in civic affairs. One man In
this city voted last fall for the
first time in 25 years and his con
science still hurts him, he Is a
good man, but is not doing much
for Ood.
Another told me that he had
been reborn and his desires had
left him, hnd no use for secret or
ders. I believed him as he spoke as
a child and thought as a child.
This Is Ignorance. The Bible tells
us how tar we can go. - The light
of Christianity is the only true
light. All knowledge comes from i
Ood. Science Is the scattering
seeds that blew from the main tree
and planted In the wilderness, l'eo-'
pie have been tho same from the :
beginning as far as human nature ;
is concerned. If Ananias lived to-:
duy hu would be ellKlble to be a
member of the Oregon legislature
and Snpphire could be governor of
a great state. Uod does not care
wlmt we eat or drii.k. '
Itut we must not destroy our
lives by so doing. The drunkard or
(,-lutt'in Is doonKd. V.'e are all
striving after that knowledge that
keeps uh on the rl-rlit road. Yho
Christian life is a Hie full of ad
venture. 1 enjoy studying people
arid Ihe way some people act is In
teresting Indeed. Sometimes 1 feel
like laughing out loud. i
