UMPQUA CHIEFS TO
URGE TAX LEVY FOR
ROSEBURG BAND
The limpqua Chiefs have taken
upon themselves the task of fos
tering a one-half mill tax levy In
the city of Koseburg for the pur
pose of supporting the Douglas
County Concert bund. At the
present time the band's income Is
not sufficient to meet its needs,
and many members of the organi
zation have been forced to dig
down into their own pockets to
pay the actual expenses. The city
gives 1600 each year, at the rale
of 00 per month, and this allow
ance will be continued despite un
founded rumors to the contrary,
according to a statement made
this morning by Mayor Houck.
The city is not able in its present
financiul condition to give more,
and consequently Individuals and
organizations must bear the added
amount necessary to support the
band. The Chiefs propose a city
tax of one-halt mill, which it is
estimated will raise I1.H00. This
system will distribnte the burden
of supporting the baud eauablv
As Utterly Different In
Results Now As a Year Ago
To the best of our knowledge there had1 never been
a 3-inch motor capable of producing 68 hone
power, a speed of 70 miles an hour, with gasoline
economy safely over 20 miles to the gallon, until
the Chrysler Six arrived on the market last year.
There is no other today.
That is what scientific engineering in the way of per
fected gas distribution.special combustion chambers
and heat distribution does for the Chrysler She.
There has never before been a motor in which all
sense of vibration has been so completely elimi
nated, never before a car in which side-sway and
road-weaving are absent, never before a car with
an overall length of 160 inches that afforded so much
i usable space generously roomy for five large adults.
Examples might be cited by the score. Butyoucan see
for yourself how utterly different the Chrysler Six is
and why the eager public bought more than 32,000
Chrysler cars the first year, if you drive the car but a
few minutes. We are anxious to give you a Chrysler
ride, to prove it the best-built car you ever sat in.

p Seven months ago The California Oregon
Power Company made a public offering of
10,000 shares ($1,000,000.00) of 7 Preferred

. Today, only half of the entire offering remains

r which has heretofore prevailed $98.00 per
- share, with convenient terms at $5.00 per share
r . per month if desired, and with interest at 6

Increased Value for Investors
Prevailing market conditions, the country-
" wide demand for good hydro-electric securities,
and the approaching completion of the Com
pany's new developments, which will materi
m , ally increase the net earnings, now justify this
r: increase in price of the Preferred Capital Stock.
Announcement of the advance of $2.0Q per
share on April 2, 1925, is published at this time
! for the advantage of stockholders and prospec
tive purchasers.
