" DETROIT, ttlch., Var. ll X
10-cent device that does sway with
the costly; motor car carburetor
and a simply made gasoline pump
that eliminates the expensive tscv
tram-tank are promised for 1926
automobiles.
At Milford. Mich., it) miles from
Detroit, the General Motors cor
poration has a 1200-aere experi
mental "shop", half plain, half
bllls,on which It has built 11 miles
of every type of road from con
crete to mud for proving out aoy
new device intended for nse in or
on an automobile. 1
There, two particular teats,
among a hundred others how. In
progress, are about complete and
threaten to revolutionize the pres
ent system of carburetion on every
automobile, front the lowliest to
the most magnificent The two
devices have been put through v
ery Imaginable test. They , have
surpassed even the hopes of their
Inventors.
One device, si tiny pipe, entirely
eliminates the Carburetor and is so
simple In construction and opera
tion as to turn gray the hair of ev
ery combustion engineer from
grief that he had not thought' of it.
The other ia a gasoline pump, to
be attached hear the carburetor.
Almost as simple aa the other. It
doea away with the modern vacu
um tank.
The Invention io eliminate the'
carburetor costs less than 10 cents
It la aaid, to manufacture. That
it "works" Is proved by some of
the testa conducted with it A car
with $37 worth of carburetor and
carburetor connections removed
and the 10 cent device put in place
was driven day after day over a
100-mlle coure. Invariably the re
sults were the same. The car cov
ered the distance with a 20 per
cent reduction In gasoline eon
sumption and with an estimated
20 per tent increase tn power.
in the other Instance the gaso
line pump replacea the expensive
vacuum tank. It is simpl? made
and operated as Is the ordinary
water pump id the cheapest motor
and Is set In motion and its speed
regulated by the motor Itself In
exactly the fashion of the present
vacuum tank. Its cost Is trivial.
After months dT testing. It oper
ates as effectively. It not more so,
han the vacuum tank.
OH and motor engineers for
some yeara Ave agreed that but
15 per cent of the energy stored
In gasoline is being used by the
modern motor, and car makers
have struggled in hope of makipg
some startling discovery or at
leas reducing the wa3te. But not
I until this year have they been
promised success. Now It appears
to be coming from all directions.
It is to'sinprove carhure.tlun that
each leading motor maker pins his
fondest hopes of turning the pub
lic's mind strong to bla car. For
the time being, tne oiner neas
seem to possess minor possibilities
of Improvement., All feasible
changes in number and arrange
ment of cylinders havo been tried
Four-wheel brakes, ballons and
lacquer finishes have taken care of
those phases, at least for a while.
Cooling-systems must yet be Im
proved aa must lubilcatlon and
spring suspension. There Is room
n make lltbter and mora com
fortable todies. These will come
more slowly. But before them will
and must, come better carburetion,
and some new typo of transmis
sion, simpler to operate nnd con
suming less power and at the same
time able to deliver more power to
the rear wheels.

At one step, the new good Maxwell
creates an immeasurably hffiher con
ception of the dollar's buying power
in its relation to motor car speed and
power. '
The owner of this new good Maxwell
finds in it an ability for sustained
speed which wins his respect no mat- ,
ter how powerful the cars which he
has driven before.
He becomes used to leading traffic in
the city because of a flashing acceler
ation which is not surpassed by any
car built today.
He finds himself enjoying these ad
vantages at an operating and rrin-
tenance cost which owners declare
is lower than any previous motor
car experience has ever taught them
to expect.
FoT the cause of this revolutionary
achievement, credit the engineering
genius which produced the Chrysler
Six, the wonderful plants in which
the new good Maxwell is manufao
' hired from wheels to body, from radi
ator to rear axle.
In this new good Maxwell, Chrysler
engineers and Maxwell's fine work
manship have advanced the ability of
four cylinders beyond anything the
. Industry had previously produced.
We enthusiastically invite you to let
us prove Maxwell's superior quality
and values
