The Trick
Quick Starting
Only part of
your gasoline problem!
There's your motor to be con
sidered and this is vitally impor
tant. Go ji little farther into this
question of gasoline.
WORKERS JO FIGHT
E
Non-detonating gasoline
delivers power impulses '
continuously throughout
the full stroke of the pis
tons. It doesn't deal one
sudden, crashing blow.
Strong, smooth power re
sults. A swift, powerful, con
tinuous thrust drives the
pistons all the way down. .
No sudden crash against
the piston head, the force
of which is spent and
gone in one explosion.
No vibration, none of
the wear and tear, and no
"knocking" due to those
sudden crashes.
A smooth, quick pick
up and a gliding, power
ful, stressless speed comes
from Noti'Detonating.

WASHINGTON, Keb. 25. Wa
ges must not be reduced! The
worker must fight every move
towards reduction, WiUlam Green,
president of the American feder
ation of Labor, said today.
Attacking "some of the Import-
ant employers In the New Kng-
land textile industry who are eu
KKd In an attempt to cut wa
ges". Green, in an interview, has
warned ajtainst simitar attempts
in other industries and declared
thu the wages of all workers de
pt'iidtnl upon the success of the
employers in this first move.
Workers must fight every at
tempt to reduce wages: if the wa
ges of carpV titers are reduced,
carpenters buy textiles, aud the
wa:es of textile workers are re-dm-eil,"
said Green, "Textile
workers will have less money to
buy commodities produced by
other industries; they eat poorer
food; they make the old shoes
last longer, burn less coal or no
coal at all. So It goes, and every
reduction of wages, in the long
run, increases unemployment.
I nemploymenu has steadily re
teUed before the advance of the
trade union movement, which has
reduced hours of labor, raised the
rates of pay, fostered the develop
ment of machinery and taught the
workers to demand and get better
conditions and higher standards
of living."
Unions work constructively for
the good of mankind by obtaining
wuge increase for workers, Greeu
said.-
"To a much greater extent the
of misery and despondence la
written In the record of wage re
duction," he stated. ,
"To a much greater extend the
record of happiness, well-being,
prosperity and growing civiliza
tion is written In wage Increases.
Just a few months ago the U. S.
Steel Corporaton raised the wages.
The reason doesn't matter much.
The effect was magnificent. It
made for human happiness.
"Humanity was given a fairer
chance, wheu tho carpenters'
union, years ago stood out from
the ranks and demanded and got
the 8-hour day. The United Mine
Workers took the breaker-boys
out of the mines and gave slaves
a chance to become men. The In
ternational Typographical Union
has Baved thousands of lives by
the regulations it haa induced
employers to accept.

what the San Francisco dis

IT takes real stamina to emerge with flying
colors from a record-breaking run through
1,500 miles of wintery mountain roads. Yet,
the performance of Lancaster is but half of
the story. The other half is the Lancaster

service of a responsible business man. Look
up your Lancaster merchant now, not only to
