FEAR FOR SAFETY
OF BEND TRAPPER
(AaocUtn! Ftp 1imh1 Win.)
BEND, Ore., Feb. 24. Fears for
the safety of Charlie George. Tu
malo trapper who has not been
heard df for more than 30 days,
were Increased today when Allen
Wilcoxen and R. W. Sawyer re
turned from Elk Lake and brought
word that he had not been htard
of there. A searching party is be
ing organized today.
While George has worked out
from his cabin at Tumalo he also
goes to a cabin at the foot of
Broken Top, but has visited neith
er of these during the 30 days.
Other cabins along the trail aie
not only hard to find in the a.orms
which have raged in the Cascades
during the last month but none of
them had food enough to do for
the length of time George has
been missing. Anxiety for his
safety was not folt until a few
days ago when he failed to return
to either of the cabins.
