W. E. Krouzer, a groceryman
at Oakland, was arrested lust
night charged with operating a
still, and will bo turned over to
the government. Officers found
a still, two gallons of moonshine,
and 100 g;i lions of mash.
A federal agent, according to'
Sheriff Starmer, purchased a gal
lon jug of moonshine from Kroii
z r lor $20, this liiiuor being held
as evidence in thu case. Upon
this information a search warrant
was secured and Air. Krouzer's
p hire raided last night.
Deputy Sheriffs Shanibrook,
Leas and IlodK''. together with
a federal operative, searched the
premises and found a still im
provised from a five-gallon kero
ht'im can and a copper coil. The
still showed evidence of having
been used previously, and from
the corroded condition of the tin
kettle used, the moonshine pro
duced must have been of a decid
edly Injurious nuture.
Officers found a roll or new
copper tubing und other Indica
tions pointing to the fact that
another Btill of like nuture was
planned. There were 100 gallons
of corn mash confiscated, together
with a quantity of sugar and other I
supplies. !
As the case was plainly ono I
of manufacture, according to Hhe- I
riff Starmer, it. was turned over
to the government, and a com
plaint was sworn to helorc U. S.
Commissioner Hopkins.
