death Edward Schmidt, his 17
year old white companion yester
day. The two youths were to have
been arraigned In the Juvenile
court under a charge of robbing a
grocery store. Oillun told the po

first and implicated him , which
he said was the reason for the
killing.

dny from the receivership of tho

Kendall. The receiver s work was
completed, the order stated. All

had assumed the Indebtedness of
the company.
Mr. Simpson was made receiver
in the case brought by himself

William Crumback was shot to
death here last night when he fail
ed to heed the challenge of a
sentry at Schofleld Urn-racks. The
sentry fired five shota. all of
which took effect. Crumback's
home was In Detroit, Mich. The
sentry was provisionally charged
with murder.

In 1920 the census figures
showed the following farms tor
the five counties In this district:
Lane, 327a; Coos, 1118; Douglas,
2275: Josephine, 727; Jackson,
1720. The ratio of increase has
been about the same in each coun
ty, Mr. Laird said.
The increase In number of farms
Is due to - Irrigation, drainage,
clearing and the cutting of larger
farms In smaller divisions, the
director gives tile opinion.
