Do you remember how triumphantly
Ixittle Hlalr Parker's melodrama,
"Way Down Blast," swept the coun
try? It toured every' large city; it
j was produced by the stock companies
and dramatic societies of every small
I town. It was discussed in clubs and
drawing rooms. If- you hadn't seen
it, well, what had you seen?
It is the only play that has sur
vived for about thirty years. Stock
companies nre still presenting it and
D. W. Griffith recently made it into
a moving picture.
To James Barrows falls no small
share of its original success. He was
the first one to play the part of Squire
Bartlett, the simple old man who be
friends the unfortunate heroine .until
he learns of her disgrace and then
wrathfully drives her out of his house

new art. His latest film is "The!
Old Fool," which comes to the Liber
ty theatre for a two days' run, to
night and tomorrow.

"I'll go out," and grabbing his hat

Mr. Kllwood quietly took out bis
handkerchief and wiped away my

ed. Laurel opened the door, but he mo
tioned her away. Guy, who had re
turned, tiptoed In, looked at us a
moment, then went out again. Oh, If
Mollie would only come! Mrs. Ell
wood might awake from her dose and
recognise me, my voice. Still we sat
there, her huRband and I. waiting.
The doctor came. Mr. Ellwood fol
low him Into the hall, and returned
with a still graver face, I was cramp
ed, arms almost numb, but I dared
not stir. She stirred, whispered:
