REDDING, Cal., Oct. 8. A herd
of twenty-five elk was seen receuily
near Green Mountain, Shasta county,
according to Tom Weatherby and
John L. Williams, stockmen, who
were rounding up cattle In the vi
cinity of the mountain. In 1913.14
the Elks lodge of Redding "planted"
a herd of forty-two cows and nine
bull elks above the river north of
Redding, and this herd is thought to
have ranged toward Green Mountain
which is situated still further north
