seniors with one of the most delight
ful receptions of the social season.

careful preparation anil real work on
the part of the freshmen, was, pre
sented in the study hall, much to the
delight of the seniors, who say that

Tho high school orchestra opened
the program by rendering several
I beautiful numbers. Av comical Irish
! song. ' rn Med "My Irene." was given
! by Theima Olmstead and company of
accompanists. This number elicited
ral laughter. Following the exhibi
tion of a series of slides on Oregon
writors. Principal Johnson favored the
ai'duncc with a splendid vocal solo
arid responded to an encore. A com
ical one act play, entitled "The
HiartviMe Shakespeare Club." came
n-xt and proved enjoyable. "My Afn
Folk," a Scottish song, was given by
Mrs. Hamm ami was fully appreciated
by the listeners Kdtth Starret. a
member of the freshman class, gave a
humorous reading and won many ad
mirers. The next number, which was the
real ccntet. of the program, was a plav
entitled "Th" Kvolution of Courtship."
It showed the methods of courtship
through the ages, taking first the

tal, the colonial, (lie twentieth cen
tury, and then a glimpse Into the fu
ture by showing the fortieth centurv
