Boy Scout Camp
(BY A SCOUT)
Irld vou rweive some "short and
snappy" answers tfom the Hoy ,
Scouts when you- ftret lgan aklii

This was not because they did not
have a good time at tamp. We had
a fine camp this year. No. probably
the reason your kid seemea cross up
on arrival was because he was thor
oughly tired out and bad had no
breakfast. But wa all got fun out
of these little troubles, lnd you no

Well, there's no harm la thut.
We started out In cars Wednes
day, June 7, and were taken to Kock
Creek. Mr. Foster was on deck, as
he usually is, with his paik-horses
,'.iui he packed our ioo io camp.
During all our campins days, Mr.
Foster gave us all the help he could.
He surely has tho good will of every
boy who went to camp.
When several of the boys had their
tenta spread out on the ground and
were fixing tent-p.olee the rain broke
loose. All those who were already
under canvas just sat and laughed at
us In our endeavors to fix our tents.
At last after "Papa" King had finish
ed his frantical efforts at stowing
away bread in dry tents, we- all gave
up i.nd got Into a tent and dripped
all over the bedding and persons of
tho occupants. It was about three
days 'before everything was dry
again. Everyone's blankets were
soaked. Nearly half the fellows burn
ed holes in their blankets while hold
ing them in front of a bonfire. Ev
erything wus steaming. Everything
was soaked except the good humor
of the boys. In about 3 days we bo-
gnn to exierlence troultle from
dead cow which was lying aliftve
camp about 60 feet. We burned her
up so that the flies would not bother
us.
On Sunday, June 11. another row
ust naturally up and died right In
the middle of the creek where our
drinking water was gotten. Tins was
little too much for the nerves and
na!ates of some of the boys.
After that, our arinKing water
came from the North I'mpqua. Some
body In camp pointed out certain
signs that the cow had died of tuber
culosis. Well, anyway, folks, don't
mention dead cow to a scout while
he is eating dinner.
Five bovs were invited to Mr. Fos
ter's house during camp. It was
novelty to visit his place. He lives
about 6 miles up tha river (from the
camp. Morrll Rltter, especially, was
greatly thrilled by his collection oi
horse-pistols and guns. He was also
thrilled by tho eats which Mr. Foster
heaped on him. '

Everything which does not go
ahead must go backward.- This is
one of the mnln principals In scout
ing. Noi -matter how far a boy goes
In scouting there is always a step
more which he can advance. The
ranks in scqutitig are gained by pnsa
In tests such as Knot-Tying. First
Aid. Signalling, Hiking, Swimming
Woodcraft, etc. This year s camp
hns ibeen a great pli.co for passing
these tests. Many boys who thought
of nulttine this summer have caught
the real spirit nf scouting from this
year's camp. Tlicy want to go on
and capture merit badges.
Therefore I hoie I have conveyed
this Idea to you that scouting Is
really doing the hoys good by get
ting them interested In something.
This year's camn had changed the
minds of some hnvs from a narrow
gauge to a broad-thinking mind.
So we wb-h to thank 1 11 HosHmrg
people who assisted us by donating
cars or who helped In any way.
"Watch me," said
the strong swimmer,
"I'm hot afraid"
So ihe matched his strength
against the Swirl of the rapids,
and laughed at the danger, and
kept repeating the stunt, until
. It was the day the life-savers
' had been waiting for- that day
the call for help came.
It's an easy matter to smile
at coffee warnings when you're
going strong.
But a good many strong
. swimmers won't risk the rapids,
and a good many coffee drinkers
are beginning to think of the
caffeine in coffee. ' ,
Coffee can disturb nerves and
digestion, and often it does.
There's a safe and satisfying
course for everybody in the
selection of a table drink.
Postum has charm without
' harm. It'3 the safe drink for
all, and. probably, therefore, it's
the better drink for you.
Thousands have found it better,
and fully satisfying, for them.
Your grocer has both forms of

Cereal (in packages of larger bulk,
