During the game an announcement
that the Roseburg girls had defeated
Grants Pass, at Grants Pass, by a
score of 16 to 15, caused -wild ex
citement. The contest was refereed by Eddie
Durno of the University of Oregon
and there was little criticism of his
work. He requires clean, sportsman
like playing and keeps the game mov
ing rapidly. He Is an excellent ref
eree and won the approval not only
of the fans but of the players them
selves by his fair dealing.
The high school orchestra gave
several selection during the evening
and each number was well received.
Roseburg's hardest game will
probably come Wednesday night
when Ashland plays here. Years of
rivalry between the two schools adds
lo the determination of both teams.
Ashland Is composed of five husky
young men -who outweigh the local
players by a considerable amount.
Ashland also has a forward who
shows an uncanny ability at convert
ing the long shots. This is, without
doubt, to be one of the finest basket
ball games of the season and the
Bcore will very probably be quite
close.
Saturday's game was preceded by
a preliminary between Company D.
