State Fair Program
To be Best Ever

for what promises to hs the graatest
statv fair in the history of Oreiatn.
Heads of the various departments
are rushing their plana to completion
so that when the fair opens Monday,
Sip'temher the 2C, not a nail will
need to be driven, nor a detail of
the exhibit chaoged.
Outstanding features of the fair
Ihia year will be livestock and agri
cultural exhibits from the display
point of view, and from the enter
tainment side, horse and auto races,
airplane stunts, night horse shows,
auto polo, fireworks, balloon ascen
sions, with the latest novelty added
in the way of horse racing In the
evening. This will be made poasliile
by the Installation of powerful
searchlights and a large number of
arc IlKhts around the track. This
should fill the big grandtr-id to
capacity every night. The alaus are
to have most of the speed eventa
running racea.
The various days have been sche
duled as follows: Monday, children's
day; Tuesday, Hoosters' Itay; Wed
nesday, Salem I Jay; Thursday, Port
land and 1. A. K. bay; Friday Is
Elks' day. 0. A. R.. W, R. C. Fra
ternal and Willamette Valley Day,
with Saturday being turned over to
the Shrlners of the state.
Auto races will he programmed for
he first three days of the fair, with
'he fastest drivers In the northwest
ompeting for the $1500 cash prizes.

irennlons and fire drills by expert
firemen, will be dally attractions,
with the regular racing program In
liiillna: the best bets of the North
west circuit. The horse show In the
stadium will be held every night,
ind In the new pavilion and In front
of the grand stand there will be pro
trams each evening that should fill
"very Individual entertainment need.
Plreworks will be featured on Mon
tav and Saturday nights. The var
ious civic organizations of the state
will put on stunts Tuesday evening,
'ompeting for the silver trophy given
iv the state fair board: the people
if all nations will give a splendid
nrogram In the main auditorium
Wednesday night, In which folk
songs and dances will be an Impor
tant detail; Thursday and Friday
light will witness special attractions

night will ho turned over to the
thrillers and their wives and friends
ith the concessionaires putting on
