short time yesterday. Mr. Joelson
nought a Fordson tractor, disc,
plows, etc., to be used by them on
their ranch at Coles Valley.
Public Service Commissioner Fred
A. Williams and the members of the
county court left this morning for
Cornutt, where they will Inspect a
proposed crossing of the county road
and railroad. An Inspection of the
proposed grade crossing near Suther-
lin was made yesterday.
The Dixonville auditorium will to
night be the scene of a big dance.
This will be the first dance of the
season at that place and a large
crowd is expected to attend. The
roads to Dixonville are In excellent
onditlon. A fine orchestra has been
secured to furnish the music.
Miss Thora Chadwick left for
Riddle last evening, where she will
visit for a short time with friends.
Mrs. Dan Bunnell left today for
California, where she will spend
several weeks visiting with friends
and relatives. Mrs. Bunnell will
visit with the Caros In San Fran
Cisco.
At a meeting of the Roseburg
High School Student Body Assocla
lion it was decided to Invite the Uni
versity of Oregon Orchestra to ap
pear here, under the auspices of the
High School. The orchestra Is com
posed of twenty untiversity students
Their director Is an excellent violin
1st and In addition to their orchestra
program they will bring with them
a soloist, who was formerly an oper
atic soprano. The orchestra Is mak
ing a tour of Southern Oregon and
appearing In all of the larger High
Schools of this part of the state, and
will be in Roseburg, April zna.

Here are a few lines of what Troop
one in Scoutdom did tlilB week at
their regular meeting last Monday
evening. About fifty boys reponea
for the "feed" and at 7 ociock i roop
one was called to order. This meet
ing nroved to be one of the largest
and most exciting held by Troop one.
For the first time we had a tun
troop meeting numbering 32 boys
present, which number constitutes a
full Scout troop.
The meeting opened wirn roll can.
followed by a playlette given by the
Bear Patrol. The scene was laid in
Mexico and the characters appeared
In full Mexican costume, and the per
formance was well given by tne Doys
of this patrol. Rusty Irwin also fur
nished us with a chalk talk which
contained some very clever cartoons.
