Never waa there such great dtuiurid made of tli- college to supply the Industries anil professions with efficient young men uud women as now, accordlug to the deans and heads of departments. In many instances graduates have had a choice of a score of positions, and undergraduates have. In hundreds of cases, boen offered positions at In comes which were formerly looked upon as obtainable only by limn in the so-called higher professions. The problem has become a ques tion not of finding suitable positions for college students, say these beads, but of keeping them at their studies, in face of substantial and most al luring calls, long enough to give them the fullest training for higher technical service. The cause of this Is attributed to the tremendous shak ing up of the war, which Jostled many traditions off their pedestals, and threy Into gold relief the real pillars of national power. o AROUND THE TOWN SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY. We enter the amusenieut fluid of Rose burg with a thorough apprecia tion that here lies one of tiie most promising opportunities for motion picture enterprise between the Mis souri Rivur and the facilic Coast. It is our endeavor to provide as thoroughly up-to-date, modern, con venient and comfortable a play house as possible. We believe we will succeed. In Its equipment, Its operation and future activities nothing will be left undone to draw you within its doors, and once there, we will strive to aee that for a very nominal sum you are provided with a class of entertain ment that is not excelled elsewhere and that compasses the beat features of the continental uud American film markets. In the mutter of the entertainment we shall provide you, we almost pre fer to let our bills speak for them selves. Our opening program is but Indicative of what Is to come. Al ready new contracts have been signed for the coming y ar for the great motion picture features. As the new playhouse and the most ad vantageously located, the cream of these bookings will be seen here first. Our one thought and endeavor will be the operation of the tinest and moat popular theater of photoplays in Hoseburg. Our house is strictly a union house and we will endeavor at all times to be fair to organized la bor. We have no quarrel with anyone In this town, but are tit-re to give the people who enter our doors the worth of their money, if not better.
