left this morning for the Presidio,
where he la now stationed. He will
leave soon with his compsny the 44
infantry, for the Hawaiian Island,
where they are to be stationed.

L. K. Mllledge, a former resident
of this city, waa a business visitor
here and will remain for several days
attending to business matters. Mr.
Mllledge was engaged In the grocery
business here several years ago and
said today that "Roseburg always
feels like home to him."

Mr. and Mra. J. O. Iewls motored
over from Sutherlln this afternoon
to attend to business matters here.
They have recently bought the prop
erty of Mra. St. John In Sutherlln.
and will make that place their home

The members of the Jazf-O-Four
orchestra are planning soon on elim
inating all jazz from their music, in
keeping with the general movement
which is sweeping the entire country.

morrow night xylophones will be
added to the combination and a five
piece orchestra will furnish the

On Vacation Trip
Mr. and Mrs. I, wlmherly and
daughter, Florence, and Miss Eva
Lenox loft today by automobile for a
trip south. They will travel leisure
ly through California and thence to
Tucson, Arizona, where Miss Flor
ence will enter school. She will be
domiciled at the home of her aunt,
Mrs. Ilywater, at 36 Enst Pennington
street. Mr. Wlmberly retains all his
property and newspaper Interests In
Roseburg and will return here later
In the year to look after same.

C. C. Clifford and his brother leave
for Portland Sunday morning. The
Cliffords have done a tremendou-t

work and health education. They
