Hoostors of the Hardlng-Coolidge
campaign in this city yesterday re
ceived noarly a thousand buttons
which were distributed here. The
buttons were gone within a very
'short time and an order was placed
with the Portland headquarters for

Ten Mile valley, consisting of 45

of Ten Mile. This is a beautiful lit

and Mrs. llushnell will take posses
sion of the farm October 1, and will
make it their home.

Rupert Cannery company in this
city stated today that the pear
canning season would start on next
Monday morning. The growers
have been hauling their pears to the
cannery for the past two weeks and
nearly every box is of tho So. 1
variety.

Frank Duvton. alias A. B. Mutt-
son, Is being held In the county jail
following his arrest In connection
with the recent sale of picnic hams
In this city. Dayton Is one of the
party which Is composed of two men
and two women, the other man being
known by the name of H. Cooper.
The soliciting Is done by the women,
who represent the meat to be home
cured ham of tho best variety. The
delivery la made by Cooper, whose
scales are two pounds off weight.
Dayton takes care of the shipments
from San Francisco and was arrested
this morning as he took possession of
two crates shipped from San Fran
cisco containing BOO pounds of the
shoulders which are being sold as
ham. The women and men repre
sent the shoulders tob e hams aud
sell them at a price over that of Ihe
regular market and at tho suiuf tlmo
doliver short weight. Dayton reruses
to divulge the present location of tho
remainder of the party. It Is be
lieved that a camp has boen estab
lished somewhere near this city and
search is being conducted for Ihe
remainder of the quartette. The
complaints received from thoso who
were "stung" continue to pile up In
the local police offices.
