The airplane, our newest form of

I am a little boy and very much
Intoreated in airplanes. Ever since
they have been flying over our
town, I've wanted so much to take
a ride. I reau in the News-llevlew
of the generous offer the publisher
of this paper have made. Ho 1 con
eluded to give some of my Ideas aa
to the Tieneflln to Koseburg from an
airplane point rlf view. 8o very
many auto tourists stop In our camp
here and; laro much pleased with
our lovely surroundings, that very
naturally they would want to see
more of our country, outalde of the
town. What bettor way to advertise
our scenic beauties than a ride In
cloudland over the country. It Is
done so quickly and covers so much
territory in such a short apace of
time, that In a few hours at longest
they would see more and better
than a weeks travel by ailtn or by
stage. It surely would make them
want to come to our country to
live, where there Is so much that
Is beautiful In a natural way. Ou
forests and rivers, our Cast orchard
' tracta. ranches, etc., would lie
shown to such a great advsntago
that we would soon have a thickly
settled community. Then, again
an aerial mall service would greatlv
benefit our town, hut what would
nnpenl most to people. Is lhat there
la no upkeep to the atrial road and
therefore no tuxes on the people,
The road la there today and for
ever. ADRIAN HOWEN

To Forestry Money
PORTLAND. Aug. 20. Now Is
the time for Oregon to strike hard
for the preservation of Its forests
by a strenuous campaign for ln

in it that if the state is to benefit by
the efforts of the federal govern

protection, there Is no time like the
present.
The (federal government, Mr.
Chapman pointed out, Is preparing
to put over an appropriation oi

forest fires in whlrh states may
share on something of the same
basis as government preparations
for roads are spent In states that do
a sperlflc amount for road work
themselves. ,
Firm Rouse All.
"Now Is the time tb go after an
Increased state appropriation," Mr.
Chapman says. "Now while the
tmcke Is In the air and the people
can real lie the seriousness of the
matter.
"Heretofore we have been going
down to the legislature with the
rain drlnnlng off our umbrellas at

not sem so real as now."
