Fred Agee and family took in the
entertainment Friday.
Iran Swift and brother of Ten
Mile and their lady friends were
here Friday and attended the play.
The Lad lea' Embroidery club also
helped to entertain the audience
Friday evening and later dispensed
Ice cream and cake to the tune of
$45. This money Is to be added to
the gymnasium fund. These ladies
are to be commended for their help
ana generosity.
A little misunderstanding was tb
cause of a little give and take In
tbe manly art Friday night between
two of our boys. Better read the
circuit court record of recent date.

APPENDICITIS CKASES TO .
BE "HIGH BROW" MALADY
PORTLAND. Ore., June t Ap
pendicitis Is no longer fashionable.
Operations for renioval'Ot the veri
form appendix aer going out of atyle.
Much that was called appendicitis In
recent years was not that at all, but
p'sin stomach ache In varying de
grees of Intensity. This was tbe con
census of majority opinion of doctors
lere today in attendance at tbe an
nual convention of the Oregon State
Medlcaf association, voiced following
:n address by Dr. James T. Csse, of
Michigan, on 'roentgenological
Uudy of pain In the lower abdomen."
"A number of doctors In New York
have added to their equipment si
physical culture course," said Dr.
Case, "following the operation for
ippendtcttls. My view after bearing
l.eiir talk was that the same results
would have been obtained In most
kases by dispensing with the opera
tion." -
"I have been In the habit of saying
"hat one-half of the operative cases
railed appendicitis were not appendi
citis at all." said Dr. W.,Bl Holden,
'n the ensuing discussion. ' Dr. E. A.
Sommer, of Portland, placed the
lumber of ill-advised operations for
mpposed appendicitis at 80 per cent.
The doctors agree that there should
c more definite symptoms than the
vell-kuown pain in tbe right side be
"ore operating for removal of the ap
pendix was essayed.

States. Mr. Quezon and the Hon. ftor
plo Osmena, Speaker of the Philippine
Hnufte of Iteprescntatives and Vice
"resident of the Council of Stnte, are
the leaders of the Naclonallsta party,
which has been In power since V.H7.
While Speaker Osineno Is not so well
known In the United States as Quezon,
he Is considered one of the ablest men
In the Islands. Senate President Que-
zoo recently referred to Osmena us
"the g rente. -it Filipino since Ulzal."
The personal relutlons between Os
mena and Quezon are probably without
a purnllel In modern politics. They
have been the leodlnc political figures
In the Islands for 11! years, yet thrre
has never been the slightest Indication
of rivalry between them. Tbrmiirhout
(heir college life as well as their Ioiir
political service each bus refused to be
a candidate for any position that the
other aspired to.
During the years Quezon was the
Philippine delegate In the American
Congress he won the esteem and con
fidence of both tbe Republican and
Democratic sides of the chamber.
Whenever he spoke he was assured of
a good attendance. One of the oflcinl
short nand reporters once declared
Quezon used the purest English of uny
member of the House,
Osmena, as president of the Naclon
allsta parly. Is tl.e lender of the na
