l'est," at the Antlers theater was
then attended, utter which they ad
journed to the l'uluee of Sweets

ors, red and white. Otl's orchestra
entertained with popular music, to
which Ihe younc people sand. The
seniors were well pleased with the
evening and voted the alumni royal
entertainers.

At the regular meeting of the lo
cal Moose lodge last night Ihe mem
bers were especially favored by n
splendid talk from Allen K. Joy, of
Portland. Deputy Supreme Dictator,
who came to Ilosehurg yesterday.
Mr. Joy has recently returned from
Mooseheart, Illinois. where the
Moose maintain an immense Institu
tion for fatherless children oT the
members. This Institution was the
subject of Mr. Joy's talk and proved
to be decidedly interesting.
Seven hundred children are now
being cared for at Mooseheart. The
institution is a small ciiy in a big
farm. The best school system is
I maintained, handled by the most
efficient instructors obtainable, hn
gineering in all its branches is
taught, commercial subjects are
handled by a strong corps of teach
ers and vocational lines of every de
scription are thoroughly taught,
along with the regular grammar
school and high school reuutremenln.
If a youngster shows particular ap
titude for clay modeling, for in
stance, then clay modeling is made
Ihe major portion of his school
work, w ith all of his other w in k
tending along the same line. The
boys ami girls are given the finest
instruction In music, and any who
may have particular talent along
this line are encouraged to h fit
iM-ealer effort. The government of
the students Is entirety In their own
hands, a st udent council handling
all rases that most college faculties
would take tinder their own juris
diction. Twenly-foiir hoys went to France
from Moos-heart, a splendid testi
monial to the military training at
the institution. Agriculture in all
its phases is taught to Ihe would-be
farmers, and the herd of blooded
rat to produced at the school has
captured blue ribbons wherever they
have been shown, which include
many states of the union.

the state versus "Rev,' Cline. which
opened in the circuit court Monday
morning, finally, after about two
and one-half hours of deliberation,
found the defendant guilty of Ihe
crime of statutory rape. Two bal
lots were laken and for a time it is
said that one or two of the Jurymen
were not fullv convinced of the de
fendaiiCs guilt. Tt being a criminal
action, to reach a verdict il required
the full personnel of the jurv.
Shortly after ft o'clock the last bal
lot found the twelve men agreed on

The young men, as far as could lie

slight injuries.
It seems thai Mr. Maupin, travel
ing at a last rale of speed, met an
ol her car al a sharp turn in the
load. This niacin no swerved into
l he hank, and momentarily losing
his head, Mr. Maupin turned oui too
tar and tho big; machine leaped Into
space. Assistance soon appeared on
the scene of the accident and ihe In
jured were soon tinder the care of
a physician. The car was with diffi
culty removed from Its resting place
by ihe use of block and lackle, and
strangely enough was driven to Oak

being the only part of the car seri
ously damaged.
