Fifteen thou sand majority bociulims made a demonstration in front oi Hotel Ad lon, crying "Down with Wilson. Uown with Americans." The tumult grew in front of (he American head quarters until fifty soldiers arrived and cleared the streets. A crowd gathered for a demonstration againsl the peace terms in front of the Keichstag. Richard Fischer, in an address, said the Germans' confi dence in Wilson had been shame fully abused, and that the govern ment would not sign the treaty. W. Hurt, president or the Coumy Farm Ilureau nrganizaiion, reports ihe organization of a com munity fair association ai Ureen last Saturday night. The object of the association is to promte a commun ity fair al ihe Green school house during the laller part of August or early .September. This will be one of the many community fairs to be held next fall. There will he four school districts take part in the exhibition. Glengarry, Green, Happy Valley and Winston. Mr. Hurt states that they have secured the forty acre field near the place when the exhibition will be held for purpose of putting on n tractor demonstration. The matter will be taken up with the sab's agents of the different tractors in Hoseburg, and it is confidently ex pected that this will be one of the log features of the lair. The officers elected are: Geo. W. Hurt, presi dent; Henry Lauder, vice-president; Mrs. John Moffitt. secretary, and M rs. Geo. Winston, assistant secre tary. GET CONTRACT fOR "DOLLING UP" STREETS The contract for th decorating of the city's streets for the coining, car nival and sportsmen's tournament was hue this morning awarded to the American Decorating Co., of Seattle, by Roy Hufham, who has full charge of iho street decorating. The Washington firm are well equipped to place the thoroughfares in a glowing muss of red, white and blue, and the flags of the allied na tions are also to have a conspicuous place in the decorating scheme. Large lithographs of President Wil son and other great men who figured prominently in the war of wars will be displayed. All paraphernalia to deck the streets out in a manner never before attempted will be fur nished by the decorating company. The lamp posts will take on a gala attire and many new "dress up" schemes will be shown, that will far surpass all former occasions. "Why if the Hiute highway commission would have gone nnd looked at the roads wo biiw yesterday they never would have built the Pacific highway thru Canyon creek canyon." The judge. nlliMl wiih astonishment, went on to say Ihat much of Ihe land above Til ler, a ralher thinly populuted coun try, could ho easily cultivated, and that the Klk creek canyon vicinity Is well adapted for the raising of stock. Considerable work has been done on the roads in that and other nearby sections and Ihe court members were agreeably surprised to note the pro gress In highway construction, which tins transformed the Tiller roads Into fairly good highways, considering their Isolated location, etc. A splendid highway could be con structed lliru Klk creek canyon, much easier than thru Canyon creek canyon, the route tho Pacific high way will follow, according to Julge MarHtcrB, who stated today Ihat the road to Crater Lake, via Tiller and Trail, Is sure to come eventually. Surprisingly enough, the distance from this clly to Medfnrd over that route Is considerable shorter than the Pacific highway route. How ever, the fact Ihat heavy snows would he sometimes encountered during Ihe winter months would make this route impracticable as a trunk highway. While in Hie Tiller vicinity, tho court investigated u number of road changes that have been petitioned for by residents Ibure and it Is qulto likely Ihat some of the changes asked for will not be seriously con sidered by Ihe officials, so It was learned today. The judge was qulTe wrought up over the Idea of building county highways thru orchards, etc., when the road when completed would only shorten the present high way liul Utile. Hereafter, if the Judge has his way, no road changes will be considered until the cominls--.loners themselves have looked the situation over nnd passed on same. The Tiller bridge is tn undergo badly needed repairs, so it was an nounced this morning. Tho center sian of Ihe structure Is very weak and cement piers will be put ill, re placing the wooden underpinlng. The highway from Perdue to Cof fee creek was found in excellent con dition. The county officials aban doned their automobile near Tiller and made the remainder of the trip lo within two miles of the county line by wagon thru a portion of the bad roads. An Irrigation ditch, owned hy Messrs. Cooper and Whltsett, Tiller Tanners, will no doubt have to be moved, owing lo Ihe fact that seep .ige from the ditch Is Ihe cuuse of keeping the highway In Ihat vicinity In a muddy condition.
