BEFORE GRAND JURY ON
CHARGES OF ASSAULT
Ah a result of the hearing held
vesterday In the Justice court to con
sider the charges filed against J. 1..
1'iowell and his son. Smithy Prowelt,
by Kowe Weber and Claude Weber,
respectively, the elder Prowell was
hound over lo appear before the
grand Jury, under bonds of $1000,
and tho yo inttor man was also bound
to appear, with bonds fixed at $100.
.1. I.. Prowell Is charged with as--anlt
with a dangerous weapon, in
that he fired a revolver during a
fight that was In progress between
tiliuKir and two sons against the
iwo Weber brothers, which oecur
led near the Crcen railway station
a week ago today. According to the
testimony of Mr. Prowell given yes
terday at the hearing, when he fired
the shot It "broke Ihe whole thing
up ' and the fight ceased.
Stnithv Prowell was charged with
assault and battery. Ills hearing,
which practically took up the evi
dence of both cases, occupied all of
yesterday In Justice Riddle's court,
the completion being reached short
