It was reported here today that a
number of the constable of the
county have taken a dislike to the

suit will be Instituted to test the
legality of the law. The measure
was passed at the last session of the
Stat1 I.efrMat ure and became ef
fective on May 21.
I'nder the law constable are a!-;
lowed lt per cent of the total col
lected in dog licenses, hut no coin-i
pensation Is fixed iu case they are
compelled to execute the animals. In
one district there is s:iid to be about1
ro dos. and practically every owner
has advised the constable that they
will not pay the required license.
As a result of this situation, the con
stable says it will take hint at least
four days to execute the dogs, for

Within the next ten days the I'mp
iltia Valley Fruit I'nlon will begin
shliiplng the season's crop of cher
ries. After that will be the apple
crop, although several months dis
tant, while in all probability it will
ho double the crop of last year. The
pear crop is believed large but the
market Is at a standstill at present
because of the absence of tin to
manufacture the cans for preserv
ing them.
According to the estimate of the
union officials this afternoon, 20.
000 pounds of cherries will be ship
ped from here during the next trw
weeks. These will be niostiy of the
lioval Ann variety. The- shipment
last yuar was 14.000 pounds, show
ing a considerable Increase.
The biggest Increase in the crops
this year will be in the apple crop.

now considered by the Government
among the standard necessities. Is
