These exercises, carried out ac cording to the ritual of the lodge, will be for the benefit of the public and a large crowd is expected to be on hand. A program consisting of musical numbers by a local quartette, exer ercises by the lodge officers and an address by State Supreme Judge L. T. Harris, will be rendered in honor of the occasion. As the crowd will he seated in the main lodge room on the second floor, the officers will oc cupy their regular stations, thus giving an added interest and much dignity to the ceremony. Judge L. T. Harris, who will be the principal speaker of the evening, will talk concerning the flag and its position in the present crisis, and as he is considered one of the most eloquent speakers in the state, it is believed he will be heard by a crowded house. Ware, a local contractor, at S o'eiink last evening set fire to the machine, while stopped four miles eurt of this city on the road to the Sunshine Hunch, and practically de stroyed the car and all Its contents. Mr. Ware, who was alone, made des I era to efforts to allay the flames but In view of the threatened explosion of the gasoline tank, finally gave up the task aud returned to the city. According to Mr. Ware this morn ing, he. had stopped the car lieside the road to change a tire and had about half completed the job when he noticed a smouldering cigarette. probably c:ist there by u party pre viously passing along the road. Probably the largest block of the bonds handled here during the cam paign was Rold to the Koseburg em-, ployes or the Southern Pacific Com pany this morning. These bonds ag gregated 110,000, and were pur chased through the Douglas National Hank. The following telegram signed by W. K. Ingram, assistant treasurer of the Southern Pacific Company, acknowledging the purchase of the bonds by the employes of Ihe com pany, was received by the Douglas National Hank at noon today: "San Francisco, Juno 14, 1917. 'Douglas National Hank, Koseburg. Oregon. "Have entered credit to you for your community through Northwest ern National Hank, of Portland, and l-'ederal Keserve ljank, of Salt Fran cisco, $10,000 portion of subscrip tions of Southern Pacific Company to Liberty loan.
