It. K. (Manton, master fish warden,
arrived hero ibis morning from lion
neville and left this afternoon for
Winchester, where he spent a couple
of hours investigating conditions
there. He was accompanied to Win
chester by S. C. liartrum, superinten
dent of the koseburg forestry otfice,
and Oren Thompson, deputy game
warden. Although making no deli
uile announcement, it is understood
the trip was in the nature of a warn
ing to certain persons who are ac
cused of gaifing salmon at that point.
It is the intention of Mr. Clanton
to leave he.re early Wednesday for
the Nort h I'mpqtia. tish hatchery,
where he will pass the day inspecting
the plant and surroundings. Money
was appropriated for the Improve
ment of the North I'mpquu hatchery
at the last session of the Slate Legis
lature, and it is expected that actual
w ork will begin 1 here within the
next few weeks. The capacity of the
present plant will be more than
doubled, according to the" lish war
den, while many substantial improve
ments will be made about Ihe insti
tution and grounds.
