Elimin ating the Roosevelt division amend ment from the helectlve service bill, the HouHe and Senate conferees have reached an agreement. They will report to their respective houses as quickly as their findings can be put into shape. The conferees elim inated the Fall amendment, provid ing for raisins a volunteer cavalry, force for border duty. The prohibition amendment, as passed by the Senate, was left in the bill, while the Hue limit of those suh-j.-ct to conscription was fixed at from 21 to 30 years. Inclusive, it is con sidered certain that the Senate will endeavor to restore the Roosevelt amendment, but since the conferees have agreed to eliminate it, and ihe administration doea not want it. it is not believed the amendment could pass.
