C. ri. tlelnline has acted as secre tary of the Chautuuqua committee for several years and has been very instrumental in making the events a success. It is more than likely that he will be retained fur another year. The tentative program for this year's Chautauqua contains some very excellent attractions and it is believed the event will prove highly successful. This event will oc cur on the morning of May 17, and will probably be attended by practi cally all of the railroad men of the city as well as hundreds of other cidzens. Secretary Parker, of the carnival committee, has agreed to furnish the services of the CorvalUs band for the occasion. The program will Include music by the baud, brief addresses by local employes of the railroad company and other citi xens, and the raising of the largest (lag available. The pole is HO feet long and will be Install during the present week. It Is being smoothed and will be treated to four coats of paint. On the top of the pole will be a golden ball, while at the bottom will be a galvanised case, set iti con crete. Every employe of the rall- road company was allowed to cou- tribute to the fund necessary to pur l chase the pole and flag.
