Teacheta' Association was held at
the Rose school on Wednesday af
ternoon. A very enjoyable program
was rendered by the school child

mainder of the afternoon was occu
pied with a discussion of business

Hard times struck the members
of the "Jolly Sixteen'' Thursday
evening, when they all gathered at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Max A
Combs. In North Itosebuig. in cos
tumes strikingly appropriate for the
occasion. Merriment and amuse
ment ocupied the entire evening
and the prize for the best hard time
attire w as awarded to Kd. .jonnson.
Harry Burke received the booby
prize. After the evening had pass
ed happily a very delicious lunch
was served. Those present to enjoy

Broccoli Men Men
Reports received from Kiddle tills
afternoon indicate that the meeting
of the South Cmpitua Broccoli As
sociation in progress there today Is
attended by farmers from many sec
tions of southern Houglas County
The meeting was called primarily
for the purpose of considering the
broccoli crop, which Is said to be
somewhat shorter this season than
usual. It Is alleged that the short
age Is due to the quality of seed pur
chased by the association and not to
any fault of the farmers or the cli
matic conditions. Riddle people who
spent yesterday in Uoseburg said an
effort might be made t collect dam
ages from the persons who furnished
the growers with seed for last
year's planting.
