not made proor on their entries, and
who enlist in any branch of Ihe army
or navy ol' the United States, while
a stale of war exists, should notify
the local land office of that fact,
designating the branch of the service
they have entered. This will enable
the land office to protect the entry
man against contest or cancellation
of his entry for failure to make
proof, if Congress shall grant relief
from residence while In the service.
It is customary for Congress to pro
tect homestead entrymen who ab
sent themsilves for their entries to
serve their couniry in time of war.

"I am especially pleased wllh the
new law providing ror increasing the
minimum school term from six to
eight months." said Mr. Churchill
this morning. "I'niler the present
school laws many of the educational
institutions located in the larger
towns, of the slate have held school
for as much as in months In a single
year, while in the rural districts!

sion only six months. As a result,
the students uf the country districts
have labored under a handicap
which will be remedied under the
new legislation. 1 am also well satis
fled with the legislation providing
