Sheriff George Quine yesterday
sent out several hundred circulars
containing a photograph and de
scription of Kobert Hums, the West
Rosehurg rancher, who disappeared
from here recently. The circulars
were mailed to all the important
cities on the Pacific Coast, as well
as to points in Canada.
Work Wars Completion
The work of repainting the inter
ior of the courthouse is Hearing com
pletion and the job will probably be
finished this week. As a result oi
the improvement, the courthouse
will present a much more attractive
appearance than heretofore.
Civil Action filed
The Douglas Creditors' Associa
tion this morning filed a suit against
.Mr, and Mrs. Norman Agce, of this
city. The plaintiffs seek to recovei
the sum of $4."i.tH, which is alleged
to be due on assignetl accounts.
Coming Here Tomorrow
Rudolph (Janz, the noted pianist,
will arrive in iioseburs tomorrow
morning from Port bind preparatory
to giving a recital in the evening. He
will he entertained during his suiy
here by members of the Uoselmrg
Musical Club, under whose auspices
the recital will be held. Mr. Can?,
has appeared in all the larger cities
of the Cniled States and is consid
ered one of the greatest pianists in
tile world.
Marriage License Issued
A marriage license was issued by
County Clerk K. H. Lenox yesterday
to William C. Steiver and Miss Anna
Kuth Lesh, both residents of Doug
las County.

covering the first half of the taxes
due from the Southern Pacific Com
pany on their holdings in Douglas

Word was received here this
morning telling of the death oi
Henry, the nine year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. K. .1. Howe, of Cottitge
firove. The family formerly resided
at Dixonville, where Mr. Howe con
ducted a store. The lad had been
ill for about nine weeks and In
death came as a severe blow to bis
parents.

stein. Mr. and Mrs. Kppeisstein stopped
oft" in Uoseburg especially to visit
with Mr. and Mrs. Simon t'aro. Mr.
Kpponstein and Mr. faro were
schoolmates in tjermany and bad not
seen eaeii other for -la years until
they exchanged greetings at the de
pot here this morning. Ppon leav
ing Germany Mr. KpptMistein went to
Australia, while Mr. faro fame to
the failed States. Mr. Kppenstejr
afterward left Australia and locate t
in Illinois, where he became engaged
in the business with which he Is now

at the depot were decided upon by

it has been arranged to repaint the
interior of ihe building, improving
the appearance of the ceiling, walls
and woodwork, winch are hudty in

building will fo put in a perfect con
dition for the Strawberry Carnival,
