The press bureau announced that
the Itussiau Duma executive commit
tee has accomplished a successful
revolution, imprisoned all ministers,
and took control of the government.
They appointed Deputy Knglehard as
commander of l'elrograd. A procla
mation was issued asking the peo
ple, troops, railroads and banks to
resume their regular life. The com
mittee declared itself a provisional
govern inent.
New Minister Selected.
PARIS, March 15. It was an
nounced that Admiral I.acace will
temporarily succeed I.yanley as war
minister. He Is expected to announce
a re organization of the ministry to
day, and hopes to prevent dissolution
f the present cabinet.

A SUICIDE THREAT IS

IN WEST ROSEBURG HOME

Caldwell, a well kuown lioseburg
woniuu, to throated suicide, which
until late in the evening was thought
to have been attempted. Physicians
who were called by the excited
neighbors, however, proved that her
condition, which hud become serious
following her declaration, had been
brought on by hysteria. She was
considerably improved today.
Just before Mr. Crildwell, a local
car repairer employed by the South
ern Pacific Co., left home yesterday.
his wife is said to have exclaimed,
"Wheu you come back, I shall not be
here." Knowing his wife to be ner
vous, Mr. Caldwell did not credit the
threat with an intention to commit
suicide, and after his usual farewell
left for his work. That the state
ment contained a reference to trag
edy was lirst discovered by Mrs. A. ."

LONDON, March 15- The Russian
revolution has succeeded. The Czar
may abdicate. The Duma and arm
overthrew tho government. The
iniend to crush the pro-Oerman offi
cials. Three days fighting preceded
the success of the rebels. Many
houses in Moscow and Pelrograd
were burned. The armed forces
clashed repeatedly. The rebels cap
tured the Czar's ministers, including
Premier Stunner.
The provisional government estab
lished governmental committees in
Petrograd and Moscow. The garri
sons joined the rebels ajid dynamited
the Petrograd bridge. Violentl
democratic Duma elements control
the situation.
The rioting started Satutnlay. Tin
Czar's ukases were Ignored. The
people charged that pro-C.ermaii offi
cials are hindering the Russian war
fare. The new government streng-

brotherhood representatives started
conferring with the railway man
agers at 11:30 this morning. After
an hour's conference they lunched.
The members indicated there would
he no statement until late this af
ternoon. Tiie brotherhoods are ready
to force the eight hour day issue,
and declare a strike Saturday night.
The managers otfered a compromise
and were willing to pay higher
wages They were not willing, how
ever, to grant an eight hour day. i
The brotherhoods fear a split in j
their own ranks unless they force .

MIDDLE AGED WANDERER
INJURED AT MEDFORD

The middle aged wanderer who
was seriously injured in the freight
wreek ttl oorhies early Monday
morulas, who was thought yester
day to have small chance, of recover
ing, regained consciousness this
morning, and according to tho Sis
ters at the Sacred Heart Hospital,
will recover, says the Medford Tri
bune. To Dr. 13. U. Pickel he stated when
picked up that his name was McKl
ligot. Today he refused to make any
statement us to his name or resi
dence. Deputy Coroner C. Y. Tengwald
holds an inquest over the body of J.
M. Davidson, of Modesto, Cal., who
was killed in the wreck, at 4 o'clock
this afternoon at Perl's undertaking
parlors. No relalives of Davidson
have yet been found.
Work of clearing up the wreckage
at Voorhlos crossing is proceeding
rapidly with two wrecklug cranes
and crews on the job. It Is thought
all will bo cleared away Borne time
tomorrow morning.
Hrowds of Riehtsoers continued to
visit, the scene today.

mittee appointed at a previous
mooting of tho organization to inves
tigate and ascertain the cost of fur-
nlahtng the rest room in the new
armory, reported that they had com
pleted tholr duties and found that
tho necessary fixtures would entail
an expenditure of approximately
$(0. Jt was thought that tho janitor
work could he done for a sum not to
exceed ?5 a month.
On account of the present crisis
between Germany and tho United
States, and tho orders of the Federal
Government making It Incumbent
upon the custodians of the Govern
ment property to close tho armories
to all hut military organizations, the
committee reported that they did not
believe they would he able to pro
ceed and open tho rest room. They
said the matter was now in the hands
of .1. A. lluchanan, captain of the lo
cal company of coast artillery, pend
ing a decision.
Mr. Huchanau this morning pro
pared a letter In which he Informed
the merchants that because of the
Federal restrict ions placed on tho
armories he would bo unable to al
low the rest room to he opened nt
this time. Mr. Huohanan'fl letter ts

Gentlemen:
You have put up to me the propo
sition of opening a rest room for tho
general public in tho Koseburg arm-
Iory. I know that when the armory
was built a room was prepared for
(that purpose, and I did my best at
mat time to nave it rurmsiieu and
opened to the public, but failed.
Hut times have changed. We are
now passing through a critical period
In our National history. War is
threatened and may come at liny
time. With a room In the armpry
opened to the general public at all
times, there would be confusion and
Interference with mobilization and
enlistment, and many other dan
gers, annoyances Interferences
with tho work in j. A joint oc
cupancy of the h(y Jng at the pres
ent time would 1101 be to the best In
terest of either the public or the
Government.
1 am the custodian of the armory
and responsible for its safety and
preservation. I do not think that I
would be Justified in allowing It, or
any part of It, to be opened to the
public for such purposes, under the
present conditions, and for the rea
mous above stated. I am sure that the
Wur department would not approvo
or permit such action at tho present
time.
1 must, therefore, refuse your re
quest, believing that you will con
sider 11 from my view point, and
realize Unit I am acting for the pub
lic good.
