Davies Proprietress The Review today received quite a lengthy letter from Frank Howe, president of Ihe Nehalem Valley Hank, of W heeler, Oregon, with re gard to the road legislation enacted at the last session of the Legislature. The letter Is self-explanatory and fol lows: Wheeler, Ore., March 2, 1917. Review, RoHeburg, Ore. Gentlemen: The rond legislation adopted by the Legislature Just closed" provides the means whereby Oregon can en ter tipon and carry out a compre hensive better roads program. Uy referring House bill B50 to the peo plo for their ratification the propo sition Is put squarely before the peo ple of the state of Oregon for their decision. It is up lo those of us who are in terested In this proposition to see that this act Is ratified at the special election to be held June 4th. To do so, will require a united effort on the part of all who are interested in this great movement for better roads. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stewart, who had been visiting here for some time, left this afternoon for Lock wood. Sask. They will probably re main there indefinitely. Mrs. George l.ill. who has been in a hospital at Eugene for the past week or two. Is now at the home of her daughter there, according to word reaching here today. She Is said to have Improved considerably. Funds will be required for this work and I suggest that each county organizatlon adopt a rule that each member pay a nominal sum, perhaps firm believed in universal service, who for many years has strongly ad vocated preparedness in the face of National apathy." Last Friday evening Maurice and .Marie Vogelpohl entertained the young people at a most elaborate party at the Odd Fellows' Hall, says this week's Sutherlin Sun. The affair was given in honor of Clar ence Lenox, of Klamath Falls, a guest at the Vogelpoht home. Though the night was a stormy one, nearly all the invited guests were present, and . the hall was made beautiful by the young ladies in their gay colored evening gowns'.
