ROSCBURG MAN FOUND
BY OFFICERS AFTER A
SEARCH EARLY SUNDAY
W. D. Moore, who suffered from
a nervous breukdown recently at
VVinnemucca, Nevada, while enroute
to polnta in Kentucky where he ex
pected to piiHB Boveral months visit
ing with his mother, early Sunday
morning made hla escape from a lo
cal sanlturium and was captured two
hours later by Night Officer Grant
Wilcox and a Roaeburg physician. At
the time he escaped he was clothed
in his night robes and suffered con
siderably from the cold and expos
ure. Hince his return to Kottcburg a few
days ago Mr. Moore had been housed
in a room on the second floor of the
sanitarium and was under the almost
constant care of a physician. Dur
ing the temporary absence of the
doctor at 3 o clock Sunday morning,
Mr. Moore got out of bed and made
his way out of the building. When
it was discovered that Mr. Moore was
miealng, Night Officer Wilcox wan
summoned. A search was then in
stituted and two hours later the
missing man was found standing in
the center of the street about two
blocks north of the sanitarium. He
made no resistance and returned to
his quarters with the officer and the
physician. His feet and legs were
covered with mud and he was shiver
ing from the cold to which he hud
been subjected.
Mr. Moore left Roseburg about
three weeks ago for Kentucky, wTiere
ho had planned to remain witfl his
mother during the winter. Upon his
arrival at VVinnemucca he sirTIered
from a nervous breakdown and left
the train on which he had purchased
transportation. Ho was taken In
charge by the railroad officials there
and his brother was notified. A few
daya later Mr. Moore was returned to
HoHeburg, where he Is now under
the care of a physician. Mr. Moore
owns considerable properly In this
vicinity and is said to be quite
wealthy.

Creek ranch to Moffmeister Broth
ers, two young men from near Itose
burg, says the Myrtle Creok Mail.
Mr. Cook has reserved 40 acres and
one of the houses on the nremises,
but Is planning to get back Into the
timber business early in the spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Cook have, by home
steading and by purchase, acquired
title to a tract of 420 acres in one
body, every 4U acres of which is
touched by an irrigating ditch, an.l
while the greater portion of the land
Is covered by timber and brush. It
will make a great stock farm when
cleared.
