Iloro In a new wrinkle In the elec- llon law that was passed by the last Legislature and a feature that haa heretofore not been explained, at least not In thlH part of the Mute. A voter who registers and falls to vote within two years has his name striiken off the reenter. Under the law, as interpeted by loeal nUorneys, It will he necessary for the county clerk to compare the registration hooks with the poll hooks at the liiHt primaries anil at I lie recent general election to ascer tain tlio names of those voters In the county who did not vole. The clerk will then Hend notice to these volers. notifying that each that his or her nanio will he taken oil the registration books unless he returns the card and requests that his name bo kept on the hooks. This feature is explained as fol lows in the book of election laws: "Not loss than HO days nor more than 110 days alter the regular bien nial election In November, 1016. and biennially thereafter, the county clerk shall compare the poll books of all general and primary elections and any other elections held through out the county during the previous two years, with the register of elec tors, and If it appears than anyone on said register who does not appear on said poll books to have voted nt, at least ono said election during such period, the county clerk shall remove Hie said card from the register of electors. "Saidards so removed shall be re tained for a period of ono year nnd then may be destroyed; Any person whoso card is so removed from the register of electors shall he notified by Hie county clerk by sending a no tice to his postoffice address as ap pearing on said card within five days rrom the time that his registration is so removed.
