Daley, of .Med ford, arrived here yesterday to remain for a few- days. M. F. Rice left this morning for Yoncalla, where he will look after business matters. C. L. Chenoweth arrived from Oakland this morning to attend to business matters. Mrs. Joseph Sinclair, of Dole, re turned home yesterday after passing a few days in this city. Mrs. H. Casey, of Dallas, arrived last night and will visit with her sis ter, .Miss Elizabeth Parrott. .lake tiermond, deputy sheriff at Millwood, arrived here this morning to look after official matters. Mr. and Mrs. C. 1 Pratt, of Port land, arrived here last evening .to pass a few days with friends. Clyde Hatfield, of Dixonville, went to Round Prairie this morning to look niter business matters. J. IS. Jones and wife, of Dillard. who were here for a brief visit, re turned home Saturday evening. Mrs. A. H. Herg, who had been to Portland visiting relatives and friends, returned here last night. J. A. Vernon and wife left for Nichols this morning, where they will enjoy an outing for a week. Mrs. Grant Clayton returned to her home at Dillard this morning af ter visiting a couple of days here. Miss Alida llagen, of Sutherlin, re turned this morning after spending yesterday in this city with relatives. Mrs. Belle Nye came in from Gar den Valley last evening to pass a few days. She is at the Grand hotel. Frank Long, who left here recent ly for Bend, is improving In health and is well satisfied with his new lo cation there. Mrs. George Lill and her moth er who had been visiting at Eugene for the past week or two, returned here last evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green, of Melrose, returned this morning af ter a visit for several weeks at Port land and Puyallup, Wash. Clifford Jope, who 1 attending the University of Oregon, returned to Eu gene this morning. He was here to spend Sunday with his parents. Assistant Postmaster Miss Clara McCoy, who had been visiting at En gene for several days, is expected home tomorrow to resume her duties. Mrs. 0. A. Shaddui'k, who had been to Portland and Eastern Oregon points on a visit for the past several weeks, returned home Saturday even ing. Quite a big crowd attended the dance given in the Maccahee hall Sat urday evening. The music was gooii and a general good time was on joyed, Mrs. J. J. Sawyer, of Elkton, ar rived here with her baby Saturday evening and will visit a few days here with her brother, C. W. Boyle ami family. A. F. Brown, who arrived here re cently from Pasadina, Calif., spent Sunday at Oakland visiting with old time friends. Mr. Brown formerly lived in that city. II. L. Eigenbrot, representative of the Intertype Company, of San Fran cisco, arrived here this morning en route to Portland, where he experts to install a machine. County Treasurer James Saw vers returned here last evening after a brief visit at Gardiner, Elkton, Scottsburg and other Northwestern Douglas County points. W. II. (Jore, of Med ford. left for his home yesterday after a fw days spent in the Northern part of Doutr laa County. He delivered addresses at Gardiner, Scottsburg and Elkton. Arthur Haskell and wife, who had ..been spending the past week at Ore gon City, returned home Sunday evening. Mr. Haskell only recently returned from the Mexican border. where he served with the Third Ore gon infantry. R. T. Ashworth. candidate for as sessor, has been quite sick since Sat urday. He is better now and experts to be out again in couple of days. Mr. Ashworth will receive strong sup port on election day. as voters will lesent the " back to the farm" situs being used by the opposition. A suc cessful farmer and business man is much better qualified to be assessor til an anyone who would rnt such slurs at the farmers.
