an attack on the tax limitation bill,

about the adoption of that important

Prohibition Meeting.
Immediately following the tax
meeting, ex-tiov. West delivered a
forceful address in which he attack
ed the so-called Hrewers' Amend

West told of his experiences when as

The ex-ttovernor cited the case of

worked in the earlier days, and told
how (Jleason had been later sent to
(he penitentiary for a crime com
mitted in a drunken fit.
"I was going out for a horseback
trip into the eastern part of the
state after leaving office," he said,
"and went out to see Hill before 1
started. I told him 1 was going out
onto the hills, where we had camped
together."
"Hill said, 'well I guess 1 won't be
there, this time,' "

the canning contest at the county
fair was still undecided. Only two
of the judges were at the fair,
grounds today and they were dead
locked as to whether the Kullerton
school team or the Yoncalhi team
should have first place. The third
judge was sent for and the matter
may be decided late this evening.
The winning team will go to Salem
and enter the state competition of
canning (dubs during the state fair.
While no announcement has, been
made as to the other team, it is prob
able that the Kiddie team ranked
third and the Benson team fourth in
the competition here, the latter
mainly on account of breakage of
jar.
A large portion of the Grange and
other exhibits at the county fair
have been brought to town and af
ter preparation will be sent to the
state fair.
