kins stopped briefly on the streets,
Kd. 1'ayton and a companion pulled
up alongside in an auto with another
salmon which they had caught near
the same place. It was almost as
large as the one caught by Mr. Per

also caught fine salmon in the river

In the adoption of tw-o sets of
resolutions in one of their most
largely attended meetings here in
several inotntis, the menibers of the
liouttlas County Pomona tirantte this
morning went on record eniptlatical-

important to the farmers.
As the action was taken in secret
session, much of the discussion at
tendant to the passage of the resolu
tions was not made public, hut
copies of both were ordered to he
shown to the press. It is said the
fading in support of the resolutions
was practically unanimous.

unwise'' and a "misuse of
funds." They also took issue with
the court on the nuestion of main

county schools and in resolutions
passed demanded that the system be

court recently sent out ballots to the
various sahool boards on which they
were asked lo record their votes
favoring or disapproving the present
system. This is the second election
that lias been ordered and for the
second time the Grangers expressed
their desite in favor of the super
visors. One set of resolutions ap-

ture, will eventually have a set of

ence for both the city authorities and
property owners.

approval to amend the Chamberlain
I laud Kiant bill. Reviewing the
measure at length, ho concludes that
it unets well ( he purpose "to Btib-
ject timber to taxation and land to
settlement as promptly as conditions
will warrant, but these conditions
cannot be foreseen with sufficient ac
curacy to fi them in the shape ol
hard and fast requirements."

Scott ami Kunston contemplate a
tour of Inspection of the American
front In Mexico. Their plans will
depend upon the outcome of their
onference with General Ohrenon.
