Anions the architects who pre sented plans for consideration hy Ttt school board were J. K. Tourtellotte, of the firm of Tourtellotte ft Hum mel, of Portland; Mr. Hurnraff, of Albany, und Aaron H. Gould, of Portland. In each Instance the ar chitects submitted plans for school structures ranKinK In tost from $:n. uun to IMO.UOO. The several con tractors present at today's meeting of the ftchool board specialize In pub lic buildings and are conversant with the needs and requirements of the school authorities of this city, , After viewing the plans and con sidering the specifications several members or tho school hoard ex nresHed the opinion that not less than $7 nun would bo nedeed In ronslruclliiK and eiiippinK a build ing of sufficient capaedty to accom modate between fhll and fiOO pupils. White no definite plans have been ail opted by the school board. It Is tln ir individual belief that the new slrm'tuni should contain not less than I'O rouins, and include a Kym naHium and auditorium. The new l.tiildiiiK will be of brick, cement or stone construction, and will be as near fire proof us possible. At another meeting of the hoard to be held this week a conclusion wilt be reai bed with regard to how much money will be necosmiry to erect and (equlp the proposed struc ture. As soon us this is determined a special election will be held for the purpose of voting bonds to defray the cost of the new building. The eii Hon will have to be advertised for '2 1 flays, and cannot be held be fore some time In March. In the event the bonds are voted, and there is no doubt but what they will be, the hoard will then advertise for bids for the ereclion of a structure suitable to (he needs of the district and school hoard. Marring possibilities of delay on account of technicalities, actual work on the new building l should hem n lu April. This would j insure completion of the structure I m t September. 1 KosehurK now has the sixth high 'school in the state, with regard to i en i oilmen t, according to the school iotlicials. The dislrict Is out of debt, and the school officials can see no ! p a-Mn w hy a building adequate to the needs of the district for several vt-ais in Ihe future should not be en-. te. at this time. If possible, the building will be erected on a unit ostein in order that It may be added to as the enroll meiit Increases.
